Description

What Questions Should I Be Asking about Employment: What is Possible under Vocational Rehabilitation Programs (DARS) for People with Disabilities?

Presenter:  Amy Scherer, Staff Attorney, NDRN

The world of work is one which we all must navigate, including people with disabilities. In this presentation, learn tips about how to access and receive the individualized and meaningful services from vocational rehabilitation programs that one needs to succeed. DARS (Department of Aging and Rehabilitative Services) offers vocational rehabilitation to assist people with disabilities to prepare for, secure, retain or regain employment. You may be eligible for these services if you have a physical, mental or emotional disability; this disability keeps you from working; you live, work or attend school in Virginia; and DARS certifies that there is a good chance that these services will result in your employment.

This presentation will prepare you for your first or next meeting with DARS. Know what to ask and how to ask it!

These sessions are FREE and designed to help families, siblings, and adults with disabilities interested in learning more about special needs trusts and other tools to consider when developing a plan for the future.
